How to Submit Your Site to the Search Engines
When you start your web business, don't forget to submit your new website to the search engines. Many people believe that once they have a website they will automatically be in the search engines. This simply is not true. I compare having a website address to having a physical address. Let's say I opened a brick and mortar Christian bookstore today. Would my store automatically be listed in the yellow pages today? If course not! I would need to let the phone company know my address and it would take time for my listing to be published. It's the same for your new Internet address. You may want to refer to our page on basic SEO.
Of Yahoo and Google, I have found Yahoo is the easier of the two to get listed with. Frankly, Google seems to change what they look for in websites more often and therefore can be more difficult to get into and/or maintain ranking, but you definitely want to submit your site to Google anyway. That way, if your friend or family member accidently puts your web site address in the "search bar" instead to the "address bar," your site will still show up. Here are a few links. Happy submitting!
